The Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to cause fear and chaos with threats of vaccine mandates and penalties for noncompliance. Disharmony on how to legislate the public good without sacrificing individual liberty is getting more conflicting as the days go by.
Currently, there have been calls for government officials to mandate mass vaccinations and deploy the National Guard to ensure that people without vaccination proof would not be allowed anywhere. This only means that the unvaccinated will be locked up and the military will be used to determine who will be “free” to go outside. (Related: CONFIRMED: Gov. These tactics have been employed long ago and a lot of people are worried considering that this is like a slippery slope that begins with good intentions and ends with tyrannical abuses.
Policies like these are already being implemented and one can look beyond America’s borders to have a glimpse.
In Italy, the unvaccinated are already banned from restaurants, bars and public transportation. They could also face suspensions from work and monthly fines.
France has done a similar thing by banning the unvaccinated from public venues.
In Austria, any person who has not followed the vaccine mandate could be slapped with fines up to $4,100. Police enforcers also conduct routine checks and demand vaccination proof with penalties reaching $685 for failure to comply.
China has adopted a zero-tolerance or “zero-COVID” strategy in cities that have populations reaching tens of millions. These cities are also being forced into home lockdowns for weeks or so, resulting in shortages of food and household supplies.
China has also constructed “quarantine camps” throughout the country for any unfortunate Chinese who contracted COVID-19. These massive complexes boast thousands of small, metal boxes containing a bed and a toilet. The detainees, who include children, pregnant women and the elderly, were reportedly transported to the quarantine camps in buses and held in isolation.
The last scenario is horrifyingly familiar to what happened 80 years ago when an authoritarian regime in Europe established more than 44,000 quarantine camps for those seen as “enemies of the state,” or persons who are considered to be racially inferior, politically unacceptable or simply non-compliant.
This is no longer about COVID-19, politics, democratic movements or any particular country.
This is about what happens when people, who are distracted by fabricated crises, fail to see the imminent danger that threatens to take away their freedom and put them in chains.
It’s about what happens when any government is free to use a comply-or-suffer-the-consequences mentality that is enforced through mandates, lockdowns, penalties, detention centers, martial law and a disregard for the rights of a human being.
The slippery slope starts this way with campaigns about the public good being more essential than personal liberty and it concludes with lockdowns and concentration camps.
The danger signs can now be seen everywhere.
